A

Deposition of IgA immune complexes in the kidneys

What is the presentation of IgA nephropathy?

A

Presents a few days after URTI
Macroscopic haematuria
Typically seen in young males

What is the management of IgA nephropathy?

A

If isolated haemturia, no proteinuria and normal eGFR:
- No treatment needed
Persistent proteinuria
- ACE inhibitors
Failing GFR
- Immunosuppression with corticosteroids
