IFR Low enroute chart Flashcards
When do you go missed for a precision approach?
DA/DH
the altitude in MSL above the runway threshold
When do you go missed for a non-precision approach?
at the missed approach point
What is MAA altitude?
Maximum Authorized Altitude“MAA-17000” means do not go above 17,000’ MSL
What is MCA altitude?
Minimum Crossing Altitude
lowest allowable altitude at certain fixes a/c MUST cross when proceeding in the direction of the higher MEA
What is MEA altitude?
Minimum Enroute Altitude
lowest published altitude between radio fixes that ensures ACCEPTABLE navigational signal coverage and meets OBSTACLE CLEARANCE
What is MRA altitude?
Minimum Reception Altitude
lowest altitude at which an airway intersection can be determined
What is MSA altitude?
Minimum Safe Altitude
1,000ft of obstacle/terrain clearance within a radius distance from a navigational facility
typically 25nm radius
What is an OROCA?
Off Route Obstacle Clearance Altitude
big numbers on the ifr low enroute chart that depicts obstruction clearance within the quadrant of 1,000ft in Non-mountainous and 2,000ft in mountainous areas
What is a MOCA altitude?
Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude
Altitude that provides you obstacle clearance and navigational coverage of 22NM or 25SM within a VOR.
What is a MTA altitude?
Minimum Turning Altitude
provides vertical and lateral obstacle clearance in turns over certain fixed. Annotated with the MCA X icon and a note describing the restriction.
What are these blue airways?
T-airways are GPS airways requiring GPS or GNSS
What are these brown airways?
MTR: Military Training Routes
VR = Visual Route ; conducted in accordance with VFR except flight visibility must be 5 miles or more; and flights must not be conducted below a ceiling of less than 3,000 feet agl
IR = Instrument Route ; conducted in accordance with IFR regardless of weather conditions.
A three-digit route number means at least one route segment has one or more segments above 1,500 feet agl. A four-digit MTR has no segments above 1,500 feet agl—including instrument routes.
What is this?
facility locators, they provide cross radial information to identify an intersection/waypoint.
Use IWA VOR 256º Radial to identify SADLL intersection
What is this?
ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center)
You can talk to Albuquerque Center on 134.45
What is this?
Non-Compulsory position reporting points/fixes
