Son of David after Absolom. Boasts that he will be king. he asks Solomon to marry אבישג השונמית. Solomon interprets this as meaning that he wants to be king, and kills him.
חירם מלך צור
Friend of King David who establishes relations with King Solomon. Sells Solomon cedar wood to build the first Temple. Zur is in modern day Lebanon.

Son of Omri, he is led astray by his pagan wife Jezebel. He is known as a bad king because of idolatry. Died in battle against the Assyrians when he was hit by a stray arrow.
Izevel
(Jezebel) Daughter of the King of Tyre. She is the wife of Ahab and prosecutes the prophets of the God of Israel while promoting the worship of Baal
עובדיהו
Steward of the palace to King Ahab. He hides prophets of the God of Israel in caves to protect them.
Mt Carmel
Site of the epic “prophet ogg” between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal can’t get their sacrifice to be “accepted” (go up in fire), and Elijiah’s is even after he had the altar soaked in water. After this, the people revolt and slaughter the prophets of Baal

Won’t sell his family’s vineyard to King Ahab, Jezebel has him framed for profaning the Lord’s name so that he will be killed and Ahab can have the land.
וְנָתַתָּ לְעַבְדְּךָ לֵב שֹׁמֵעַ לִשְׁפֹּט אֶת עַמְּךָ לְהָבִין בֵּין טוֹב לְרָע
Solomon’s prayer to God. He asks for wisdom.

Shlomo welcoming God to dwell in the Temple he just built
לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶל-הָרִנָּה וְאֶל-הַתְּפִלָּה
Listen to the cry and to the prayer… Shlomo asking God to listen to the prayers of those in the Temple
וְהִנֵּה לֹא-הֻגַּד-לִי, הַחֵצִי
The Queen of Sheba says this when she sees Shomo’s great kingdom. “…behold the half was not told to me”

“Ivory, Apes, and peacocks” All the exotic gifts Shlomo recieved
וַיַּטּוּ נָשָׁיו, אֶת-לִבּוֹ
Solomons wives “turned his heart” ie caused him to sin
וַיִּתְפֹּשׂ אֲחִיָּה, בַּשַּׂלְמָה הַחֲדָשָׁה אֲשֶׁר עָלָיו; וַיִּקְרָעֶהָ–שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר, קְרָעִים
Prophecy of Ahijah to Jeroboam that he will take ten of the tribes from Shlomo’s kingdom to his own in the North
אִם-הַיּוֹם תִּהְיֶה-עֶבֶד לָעָם הַזֶּה וַעֲבַדְתָּם, וַעֲנִיתָם, וְדִבַּרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם דְּבָרִים טוֹבִים–וְהָיוּ לְךָ עֲבָדִים, כָּל-הַיָּמִים
Advise of the elders to Rehoboam to lighten the burden on the people so that they will stay loyal…He doesn’t listen to them.
קָטָנִּי עָבָה מִמָּתְנֵי אָבִי
Advice of the young men to tell the people that “my little finger is thicker than my father’s loins” and to increace rather than decrease their burden
אָבִי, יִסַּר אֶתְכֶם בַּשּׁוֹטִים, וַאֲנִי, אֲיַסֵּר אֶתְכֶם בָּעַקְרַבִּים
Rehoboams response to the people that he will increase their burden “…my father chastosed you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpians”
מַה-לָּנוּ חֵלֶק בְּדָוִד וְלֹא-נַחֲלָה בְּבֶן-יִשַׁי לְאֹהָלֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל
People reject Rehoboam and the House of David and decide to split the Kingdom “What portion have we in David…?”
הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלוּךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
Jeroboam says this to the people of the Northern Kingdom after he sets up the altars with the Golden calves in Beth El and Dan. “Behold thy gods…”

Prophecy after Jeroboam builds the northern altars, in Beth El and Dan, that they will be destroyed
הַמִּזְבֵּחַ נִקְרָע, וַיִּשָּׁפֵךְ הַדֶּשֶׁן מִן-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ: כַּמּוֹפֵת, אֲשֶׁר נָתַן אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים–בִּדְבַר יְהוָה
The destruction of the Northern kingdom’s altars in Beth El and Dan
לֹא-אָכַל הָאַרְיֵה אֶת-הַנְּבֵלָה, וְלֹא שָׁבַר אֶת-הַחֲמוֹר
prophet who doesn’t listen to God and accepts food and drink. Heis punished with death but his carcass is not eaten. “and the ass and the lion standing by the carcass, the lion had not eaten the carcass nor torn the ass.”
הַאַתָּה זֶה עֹכֵר יִשְׂרָאֵל
King Ahab calls Elijah the “trouble of Israel”
עַד-מָתַי אַתֶּם פֹּסְחִים עַל-שְׁתֵּי הַסְּעִפִּים
Elijah chastises the people to pick a side, are they for God or Baal. “How long will you wait between two opinions?”
קִרְאוּ בְקוֹל-גָּדוֹל כִּי-אֱלֹהִים הוּא–כִּי שִׂיחַ וְכִי-שִׂיג לוֹ, וְכִי-דֶרֶךְ לוֹ; אוּלַי יָשֵׁן הוּא, וְיִקָץ
Elijah says this, during the “prophet-off” at Mt. Carmel, to mock the prohets of Baal… Maybe your god is on a trip or taking a nap?
יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים, יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים
People proclaim that the Lord is God after they see Elijah’s sacrafice accepted and the prophets of Baal’s was not.
קַנֹּא קִנֵּאתִי לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת, כִּי-עָזְבוּ בְרִיתְךָ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל–אֶת-מִזְבְּחֹתֶיךָ הָרָסוּ, וְאֶת-נְבִיאֶיךָ הָרְגוּ בֶחָרֶב; וָאִוָּתֵר אֲנִי לְבַדִּי, וַיְבַקְשׁוּ אֶת-נַפְשִׁי לְקַחְתָּהּ
Elijah after he runs into the desert because he is angry that the people will not follow God. “…the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets…”
קוֹל דְּמָמָה דַקָּה
God speaks to Elijah in the desert in a “still small voice”
הֲרָצַחְתָּ, וְגַם-יָרָשְׁתָּ
Elijah is commanded by God to say this to King Ahab for what he and Jezebel did to Naboth in order to gain possesion of his vineyard. “you killed and now you’re gonna take his stuff?!?!?”
רָאִיתִי אֶת-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל נְפֹצִים אֶל-הֶהָרִים, כַּצֹּאן, אֲשֶׁר אֵין-לָהֶם רֹעֶה
Micaiah’s prophecy to King Ahab that, even with the help of Jehosaphat of Judah, they will be defeated in the war against Aram. “I saw all of Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd.”
