Ideal Gas Flashcards
1
Q
What is Brownian motion
A
The continuous random motion of larger visible particles being buffeted by smaller, faster molecules
2
Q
What does Boyle’s law state
A
- For a fixed mass of gas at a constant volume, pressure is inversely proportional to its absolute temperature
3
Q
What happens to a gas as temperature increases
A
- Pressure increases
- Because particles have more KE
- Meaning more collisions with inside of container
- More force exerted on same area, therefore pressure increase
4
Q
What is 0 Kelvin
A
- -273 degrees C
5
Q
Significance of 0 Kelvin/-273 degrees C
A
- Known as ‘absolute zero’
- Particles have NO movement
6
Q
How to convert from Celsius to Kelvin
A
- Add 273 degrees C
- Eg 10 degrees C is 283 Kelvin
