Ice and Rain Protection Flashcards
What is the source of heating for wing and cowl anti-ice?
6th and 10th stage bleed air
When is cowl anti-ice required to be ON during ground operations?
OAT is 10º C or less and one of the following exist:
Visible Moisture (Fog with vis. 1 sm or less, rain, sleet, snow, or ice crystals)
Contaminated ramps, taxiways, or runways
When is cowl anti-ice required to be ON during flight?
TAT is 10º C or less in visible moisture (Clouds, rain, snow, sleet, or ice crystals)
or when ICE is annunciated
When is wing anti-icerequired to be ON during ground operations?
OAT is 5º C or less and one of the following exist:
Visible Moisture (Fog with vis. 1 sm or less, rain, sleet, snow, or ice crystals)
Contaminated ramps, taxiways, or runways
If Type II, Type III, or Type IV anti-ice fluid is applied turn wing anti-ice ON just prior to takeoff
When is wing anti-ice required to be ON during flight operations?
TAT is 10º C or less in visible moisture (Clouds, rain, snow, sleet, or ice crystals)
with airspeed less than 230 KIAS
except when SAT is less than or equal to -40º C
or when ICE is annunciated
What is a good ICE detector test indication?
ICE caution message
ICE switch/light illuminated
ADS HEAT TEST OK advisory message
What is the purpose of the wing anti-ice cross bleed switch?
To allow the bleed air from one engine to anti-ice the opposite wing
What occurs with the Windshield Heat on LOW?
All 4 panels are heated to 24º C
What occurs with the Windshield Heat on HIGH?
Side windows are heats to 24º C
Both windshields are heated to 41º C
The Left and Right Pitot/Static probes are:
Electrically Heated
Ice Detection probes are:
Electrically De-iced
Ice Detector switch light illuminates amber to indicate aircraft entry into icing with:
Wing and/or cowl anti-ice off
The windshield wipers operates
together, at the last speed selected by either pilot
At what point does the Air Data Sensor Heater Control energize all the Probes and sensor heaters regardless of probe or generator switch position?
Weight off Wheels (WOW)
The windshield wipers will operate at the most recently selected speed. T/F
