Cleared By Arrest (CLAR)
At least one person arrested, charged and turned over for prosecution.
Cleared By Juvenile Arrest (CLEA)
Same are CLAR but person in custody is a juvenile
More Work (MORE)
Case has been returned by DA for more work
Screened (SCRF)
- Unit supervisor has reviewed the case
- Case does not warrant assignment at that time
- Supervisor will make annotation in RMS if case not assigned and normally would have been under screening guidelines
Unfounded (UNFN)
Investigation determines no actual offense took place
Reassigned (REAS)
Case reassigned from initial assigned investigator to another investigator
Inactivated (INAC)
- Offense committed but not enough workable 85
- All avenues have been explored
- Complainants or witnesses reluctant to cooperate in a timely manner
Supervisors may consult checklist to determine if any critical investigative avenues missed
Investigators prohibited from influencing an individual to participate in an investigation
Closed, Exceptionally cleared (CLEX)
All must exist:
- ID of offender definitely established
- Enough PC to support arrest
- There is a reason outside of LE control that precludes arresting, charging and prosecuting the offender
Assigned (ASSI)
- Case assigned to an investigator
- Case is being worked
Closed, Presented to DA’s Office (CLD)
- Case complete
- Elements of a crime have not been clearly met
- DA or Sup want case reviewed by DA’s Office
Offenses Investigated?
10 but most common are:
- Obscene Display or Distribution
- Obscenity
- Online Solicitation of a Minor
- Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography
- Sexual Performance by a Child
Warrant Length?
15 Days - DNA
10 Days - Social Media (Must be district judge)
3 days - All other warrants
