infliximab- monoclonal antibody
immunomodulator, GI anti inflammatory
Used for crohns, Ulcerative colitis.
MOA: used to treat IBD by blocking effects of tumor necrosis factor to decrease inflm.
Preg category C
prednisone
Anti inflamatory, antiasthma. and corticosteroid.
MOA: suppresses inflm and abnormal immune response. Suppresses adrenal fx in chronic doses.
Preg category B
sulfasalazine
GI anti-inflammatories
Used to treat mild to moderate Ulcerative colitis and as an adjunct therapy to it. Off label to tx crohns.
MOA: locally acting anti inflm action of the colon.
AE: anaphylaxis. do not admin to patients with allergies to sulfa drugs, salicylates, or furosemide. chemically similar to asprin
