Absence of ego when dealing with the characters who are socially and professionally superior to him
Can’t afford to be less cautious with those who are dependent on him
Limitations
Does his crude worldview indicate that he is a petty character whose cleverness is superficial?
Iago and Othello
Set out to prove that he is true to Othello whilst Desdemona is fake
Gradually assumes control and power we associate with Othello
His role-play allows him to become stage manager and dramatist – controlling his victims fates
