I-V Characteristics Flashcards
What is the in this experiment
It is connected to the two resistors, ammeter and voltmeter
What is the first step
Use the voltmeter to read the potential difference across the resister
What do you use the ammeter for
You use it to read the current through the resistor
To get new reading what must you do
You adjust the variable resistor
What is the reason to swap the direction of the battery
This means that the direction of the potential difference has now reversed
What do you do with the results
You plot a graph of the current against the potential difference
What is the resistor
Is an ohmic conductor( the resistor is directly proportional to the potential difference)
What happens if the resistor is to hot
Than the shape of the graph will not pass through the zero
Why is it important to not keep the circuit going for to long
Cause the temperature might increase
What happens when you replace the lamp with a filament lamp
The current is no longer proportional to the potential difference
