Resistance Flashcards
What is the equation of resistance
Resistance(omega) = potential difference(V)/current(A)
What is the ammeter used for
It is used to measure the current in the circuit
What is the equipment used
A battery, an ammeter, voltmeter and a length of wire
How do you increase the length of the wire
You attach a wire to a metal ruler using tape and connect it to the rest of the circuit and put crocodile clips on it to move around
How do you assume the resistance of the wire for lengths that you didn’t try
You put it on a graph with the x-axis being the length of the wire and the resistance as the y-axis and put on a line of best fit
Problems with the practical
There is a small resistance when the length of the wire is zero. Heating effects if the temperature of the wire increases, and so the resistance also increases.
What is a zero error
When a reading on a measuring instrument when the value should be zero
Can you change a zero error
No you cannot reduce it by carrying out repeats
What might be one of the causes of the zero error
It is extremely hard to put the crocodile clips on the zero position on the ruler
