What does the density of a material tells us
It tells us the mass for a given volume
Whats the equation for the density of an object
Density(kg/m^3) = mass(kg)/volume(m^3)
What are regular object
Regular objects have dimensions which are easy to measure eg with a ruler
What are irregular object
With Irregular object, we cannot easily measure their dimensions
How do you determine the mass of a object
By using a balance
To find out the volume of a regular object what do you do
You use a ruler to measure the lengths of the sides
What is the name of the method you use to find out the the mass of an irregular object
It is called displacement
How do you set up the practical to find out the mass of an irregular object
By filling a eureka can with water (a eureka can has a spout, so the water can flow out of the can)
After you place the irregular object in the water, how do you measure it
The water will be displaced by the object out of the spout into a measuring cylinder where you can measure the volume of water
Why does the practical for the volume of the irregular object work
Because the volume of the water in the cylinder will be exactly equal to the volume of the object
