A

An emergency condition in which severe blood and fluid loss make the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body

What are the clinical signs of severe dehydration

A
  • Postural perfusion changes :
  • Tachycardia
  • Hypotension
  • Dizziness
  • Poor skin turgor,dry mouth, dry tongue
  • Fatigue and Altered conscioussness
  • Evidence of poor fluid intake
  • Decreased sweating an & urination

What are the modifying factors of the hypovolaemic guidelines

A
  • Pt w isolated neurogenic shock= 500ml bolus
  • penetrating trunk injury, AAA, or uncontrolled haemorrhage = Accept carotid pulse and Tx immediatly
  • GI haemorrhage = consider lesser volumes of fluid & accepting a BP of 80 - 100 mmHg

A

Normal Saline up to 20ml/kg IV over 30min

NORMAL SALINE 20mL/KG IV

-if HR >100 &/or BP<100mmHg consult with MTS if n/a repeat 20mL/kg
