HYPOVOLAEMIA Flashcards
0
Q
What BP are you aiming for in treatment of hypovolaemic shock
A
HR 100
1
Q
What is hypovolaemic shock?
A
An emergency condition in which severe blood and fluid loss make the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body
2
Q
What are the clinical signs of severe dehydration
A
- Postural perfusion changes :
- Tachycardia
- Hypotension
- Dizziness
- Poor skin turgor, dry mouth, dry tongue
- Fatigue and Altered conscioussness
- Evidence of poor fluid intake
- Decreased sweating an & urination
3
Q
What are the modifying factors of the hypovolaemic guidelines
A
- Pt w isolated neurogenic shock= 500ml bolus
- penetrating trunk injury, AAA, or uncontrolled haemorrhage = Accept carotid pulse and Tx immediatly
- GI haemorrhage = consider lesser volumes of fluid & accepting a BP of 80 - 100 mmHg
4
Q
What is the guideline for a significantly dehydrated pt
A
Normal Saline up to 20ml/kg IV over 30min
5
Q
What is the guideline for Isolated Tachycardia
HR> 100 BP>100
A
NORMAL SALINE 20mL/KG IV
-if HR >100 &/or BP<100mmHg consult with MTS if n/a repeat 20mL/kg
6
Q
What is the Hypovolaemic guideline for the hypotensive pt
BP<100
A
NORMAL SALINE 20ml/kg IV
- if pt HR>100 &/or BP<100mmHg consult MTS if N/A give 20ml/kg
