- SINGED FACIAL HAIR (NASAL HAIR, EYEBROWS, EYELASHES)
- RESPIRATORY DISTRESS ( DYSPNOEA +/- WHEEZE, TACHYCARDIA, STRIDOR)
- HYPOXIA (RESTLESSNESS, IRRITABILITY, CYANOSIS, DECREASED GCS)
DO ELECTRICAL BURNS RECEIVE FLUID THERAPY

TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE RENAL PERFUSION

-COOL BURN FOR 20min ( COOLING PRIOR TO ARRIVAL SHOULD BE ACCEPTED IN TOTAL COOLING TIME)
-MAINTAIN NORMOTHERMIA (VIP!!!!)
-REMOVE BURNT CLOTHING & JEWELLERY WHEN SAFE TO DO SO
-DRESSING = CLING WAP LONGITUDINALLY
*COOL THE BURN, WARM THE PT
-PROVIDE ANALGESIA
-PARTIAL OR FULL THICKNESS BURNS >15% BSA = FLUID THERAPY
==> %TBSA X PT WT = VOL
GIVEN OVER 2 HR FROM TIME OF BURN
ADULT RULE OF 9’S
HEAD = 9 CHEST + ABDO = 18 (18 FOR FRONT 18 FOR BACK) GENITALS =1 ARMS = 9 LEGS = 18 *** ARMS AND LEGS = CIRCUMFERENTIALLY
WHICH BURN PTS REQUIRE ASSESSMENT BY A SPECIALISED BURNS SERVICE
FACE, HANDS, FEET, GENITALIA, MAJOR JOINTS OR CIRCUMFERENTIAL BURNS OF THE CHEST OR LIIMBS INVOLVING >20% TBSA
