What are some signs and symptoms of HYPOVENTILATION
A
- Tachycardia
- Hypertension, increase in BP
- Poor peripheral perfusion
- Decrease LOC
- Hypoxia

What is the meaning of HYPOVENTILATION?
A
Decrease respiratory rate, and or tidal volume

Describe the affect HYPOVENTILATION has in relation to the cardiovascular and respiratory system
A
When a person hypoventilates, the bodies carbon dioxide accumulates rapidly as the body is unable to expel it. Increased Co2 = too little oxygen in the blood. This is called respiratory acidosis

How would you treat someone in respiratory distress ie HYPOVENTILATION?
A
- Oxygen, BVM 15L @ 100% always.
Consider IPPV if patient <LOC - Posture - Sitting
- Reassurance
