Hypothesis Testing Flashcards

1
Q

What are the steps to a hypothesis test?

A
  1. Define the null hypothesis (Ho) - It is always that the mean is equal to the current average (ALWAYS A NUMBER)
  2. Establish the rumour (Alternative hypothesis (H1) - It is always that a mean is (when specified, if not it is equal to symbol
  3. Look for evidence against the Ho (formula time)
  4. Ask the chances (p)
    - look up z figure in normal table to find out its probability
  5. Draw a conclusion if ā€˜pā€™ is smaller than 0.05 we reject.
    (rejecting means that the average has changed, and something does affect it)

Q

How do you conducted a 2-tailed test?

A

Its the same, just you have to x the probability before making a conclusion and it would be good if you could write:
P = 2 + P (Z ?) =
