Hypothesis Testing Flashcards
1
Q
What are the steps to a hypothesis test?
A
- Define the null hypothesis (Ho) - It is always that the mean is equal to the current average (ALWAYS A NUMBER)
- Establish the rumour (Alternative hypothesis (H1) - It is always that a mean is (when specified, if not it is equal to symbol
- Look for evidence against the Ho (formula time)
- Ask the chances (p)
- look up z figure in normal table to find out its probability - Draw a conclusion if āpā is smaller than 0.05 we reject.
(rejecting means that the average has changed, and something does affect it)
2
Q
How do we know if the test is 2-tailed?
A
If the H1 (alternative hypothesis) is = to, we do it 2 tailed
3
Q
How do you conducted a 2-tailed test?
A
Its the same, just you have to x the probability before making a conclusion and it would be good if you could write:
P = 2 + P (Z ?) =
4
Q
What option on the calculator do you need to choose for SD?
A
4 - SX
5
Q
Where do you put the number that you use in your hypothesis?
A
On the RIGHT
