Hypertrophy Flashcards
Hypertrophy of the heart refers to
An increase in the thickness of the chamber wall
With atrial enlargement the p wave in lead V1 is usually
Diphasic
If the initial component of the diphasic wave is larger than it is
Right atrial enlargement
If the terminal portion of the diphasic p wave is large than it is
Left atrial enlargement
If the height of the P wave in any of the limb leads is greater than 2.5 mm suspect
Right atrial enlargement
If there is a large R wave in lead V1 which gets progressively smaller in V2, V3, V4 than this suggests
Right ventricular hypertrophy
With very large QRS deflections in the chest leads this would suggest
Left ventricular hypertrophy
To calculate left ventricular hypertrophy…
Take the depth of V1 and add it to the height of V5. If greater than 35 mm than it is present
Inverted t waves in V5,V6 suggest
Left ventricular hypertrophy
