If uncontrolled hyperthyroidism , it is associated with ;
- Pre-eclampsia ( the most common) in mother
- increased spontaneous abortion
- prematurity
- intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR)(most common in fetus)
- Thyroid storm is a life-threatening hypermetabolic state presenting with pyrexia, tachycardia, and severe dehydration.
Management for uncontrolled Hyperthyroidism
propylthiouracil (PTU), β-blocking agents, steroids, and iodine.
Hyperthyroidism Clinical features
- Tachycardia
- Thyromegaly
- Exophthalmos
- inadequate weight gain or even
weight loss - elevated total and free T4,
decreased TSH
