systolic pressure >140 &/or diastolic pressure >90 prior conception or prior 20 weeks gestation
chronic HTN classification
*mild : BP:140/90-149/99
*moderate:BP:150/100-159/109
*severe :BP:>160/110
pregnancy advice for hypertensive patients
*stop ACE inhibitors /ARBs (increase congenital malformations
- lower weight and salt intake
*start labetalol or nifedipine or methyldopa (to keep BP <140/90)
*start on aspirin in early pregnancy
*measure BP twice weekly in pregnancy
superimposed preeclampsia
when chronic HTN patient develops proteinuria
postpartum chronic HTN
**Decrease anti-hypertensive
drugs according to her BP
records
** Stop methyldopa immediately
or change it after delivery ,
Keep under observation for 4-6
weeks
