Etiology
A
HE is an extreme form of morning sickness
-1% of pregnancies
Linked to raised bhCG in 8-12wks, can persist up to 20wks
- multigravid
- trophoblastic disease
- hyperthyroidism
- nulliparous
- obesity
- non smoker

5% prepregnancy weight loss
Dehydration
Electrolyte imbalance
N+V and
- unable to keep liquids/antiemetics down
- ketonuria/5% prepregnancy weight loss
- confirmed/suspected comorbidity
PUQE - classify severity of NVP

A
1st line - Antihistamine - promethazine/cyclizine
2nd line - ondansetron/metoclopramide
IV hydration for support
