excess production of aldosterone, independent of the RAAS system–>increased sodium and water retention and decrease in renin release

A

When a patient not on diuretics has HTN, hypokalaemia or alkalosis

A

often asymptomatic
signs of hypokalaemia, weakness, cramps, paraesthesia, polyuria, polydipsia
