Hydromorphone (Dilaudid)

A

Description: CNS depressant and potent analgesic. Acts predominately on opiate receptors in the brain provides analgesia and sedation

Indication: Severe Pain

Contraindication: undiagnosed abdominal pain or head injury

Precautions: respiratory depression. Naloxone should be readily available to counteract effects

Dose/route: 1-2 mg IV, 2-4 mg IM
Pedi: 0.05-0.1 mg/kg IV
