why was Rakosi removed as the leader of Hungary
there were many protests in the city of budapest claiming that he is a hardline stalinist. There was very little freedom of speech created by fuel shortages and poor harvests
Explain the situation of Nagy and his role
Khrushchev finally agreed to remove Rakosi and replace him with Nagy. However Nagy believes in freedom of speech and attempts to remove Hungary from the Warsaw pact
What was Khrushchev’s response
In response to Nagy’s decision, he sent in 1,000 tanks into Hungary, which lead to over 20,000 Hungarians killed and a new leader called Kadar
