The UN security council
A
- The UN security council are the only body in the world that can legally authorise military action
- Permanent members include: UK, USA, China, France, Russia
- All permanent members have a “veto”. This means that if one of these countries does not agree to a vote, then the action cannot be fulfilled (e.g. Syrian Intervention- initially opposed by Russia).
- There are also up to ten non-permanent members, including: Bolivia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Senegal, Sweden, Ukraine, Uruguay
