Assumption, everyone has an innate drive to achieve their full potential, Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow believe we are all unique in how we self-actualise

Self-actualisation: Problem solving/Spontaniety/Morality
Esteem: Self-esteem/Respect/Achievment
Love/belonging: Friendship/Sex/Family
Saftey: Security of body/Employment
Physiological: Breathing/Food/Sex/Water
Focus on self
Self-concept: The way in which you see yourself
Ideal self: The self you wish to be
Real Self: Who you actually are
Congruence
To achieve self-actualisation we must have congruence, so ideal self and self-concept match
