-Rogers believed that many of the issues we face is due to lack of unconditional positive regard

- Rogers argued that for growth to be achieved an individual concept of themselves must be the same as there ideal self
- If its the same this is a state of congruence
- conditions of worth - when a parent places limits or boundaries on their love for their children
