Integumentary
Consists of skin, hair, nails and exocrine glands
Skeletal
Includes all of the bones and joints of the body, as well as cartilage
Muscular
Consists of smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscles
Nervous
Network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body
Endocrine
Chemical messenger system consisting of feedback loops released by internal glands of an organism directly into the circulatory system which regulates distant organs
Cardiovascular
Permits blood circulation and the transport of nutrients
Lymphatic
Part of the vascular system and an important part of the immune system
Respiratory
Series of organs responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide
Digestive
- Consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus accessory organs of digestion
- Responsible for the breakdown of food to allow for absorption
Reproductive
System of sex organs that allow for sexual reproduction
Urinary
- Consists of kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra
- Purpose is to eliminate waste from the body, regulate blood and volume pressure, control electrolytes and regulate blood pH
