influenced by estrogen and progesterone for lactation.
mammary glands
the hypothalamus secretes gonadotropin which stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. These hormones stimulate the ovaries to produce estrogen and progesterone.
menstraution
is estrogen dominant, during this phase the follicles mature with usually only one follicle reaching full maturity.
follicular phases
progesterone becomes dominate, which prepares the uterus for possible implantation and maintenance of a fertilized ovum
luteal phase
refers to the proliferation of the endometrium or uterine lining. Estrogen is dominant.
proliferative phase
the endometrial glands continue to grow becoming edematous and dense, in preparation for implantation and maintenance of a fertilized ovum. Progesterone dominant.
secretory phase
a person who appears as, may have had surgery for, or desires to be a member of the opposite sex.
transgendered
born with “ambiguous genitalia”
intersexed
