Orientation provides staff with familiar tour of organization
Training focuses on acquiring skills at beginning of employment and continues as responsibilities are needed
Selection Criteria
begins with development of a workforce action plan that takes into consideration staffing, recruitment strategies, training and retaining, technology and outsourcing strategies

Action of teaching a particular skill or type of behavior - core skills, job-specific training
Training NEVER stops but IS ongoing
Improve capacity to perform a job
Sample Selection Process Timeline
2 months prior to start date - job posted
6 months prior to start date - apps reviewed and candidates selected for interview
5 weeks prior to start date - 1st round of interviews and reference checks for top candidates
4 weeks prior to start date - offers made/accepted and regret letters to non-selected
Orientation
Tour of organization and the events/meetings you hold given to new staff and volunteers
Mission statement, values, goals, job description, workplace health/safety procedures, etc.
