Takes place in the mouth by the chewing and grinding action of teeth in food

Occurs in the mouth by the action of the enzyme amylase found in saliva produced in the salivary glands

A wave of muscular action in the walls of alimentary canal that moves the contents along
What is a balanced diet?
All the necessary food types in the correct proportions

Taking in food

Food entering the body
What is egestion?
Removing waste
What is peristalsis?
A wave of muscular action that forces food through the intestines

The main location for digestion and makes digestive enzymes
