7
Q
what was the evaluation for the human fieldwork
A
- methods support conclusions to some extent, by splitting Reigate into zones provided good spatial coverage. 10 streets were sampled which meant a good representation of the area was achieved
- problems with data collection methods: the subjective nature of carrying out an EQS and HQS. one persons view is different from another’s, they could either over score or under score an area
- the EIS only graded environmental features and their qualities from +2 to -2. this scale is relatively small which makes it hard to differentiate good and bad quality necessarily, enlarge to +5 to -5 next time
- there were certain streets that were not represented in the data collection therefore it is not a true representation necessarily of urban zoning in Reigate, the sample size of streets investigates needs to be enlarged
- improvements- results could be supported using Census and index of multiple deprivation which would provide a greater insight into socio-economic characteristics
