HUMAN EYE OPTICS Flashcards
what is a fibre optic
thin transparent glass tube that can transmit light around corners.
what is the cornea
transparent layers of tissue over eyes that protects your eye and refracts light into your eye- it is a thick as a credit card
what is the pupil
the dark hole in your eye that lets light to pass
iris
the circular muscle around the pupil that controls the amount of light coming through the pupil, it gives eye color
photoreceptors
photoreceptors absorb light rays so you can see
in the retina
retina
the inner lining of the eye that acts as a projection screen for light rays entering your eye
lens
your lens allows you to focus on objects that are near or far so you can see the clearly, it is able to do this because it is attached to a circle muscle that can change its shape
what is the Rod cells
What is the cone cells
Rod cells allows us to see and detect shapes and movement without light
cone cells are used to detect color, they detect the primary colors RGB
light enters our eye in this order
Conjunctiva Cornea Pupil Lens Vitreous Humor Retina
blind spot
the blind spot has no photoreceptors and cannot detect light, it is where your optic nerve attaches to your retina
Ciliary muscle
The ciliary muscle controls the viewing of objects at diff distances.
Optical nerve
the nerve where your brain attaches to your eye
