right to withdraw
Individuals are able to withdraw/ stop taking part either their results or themselves from the study, data can be destroyed, from the first contact with participant they should be reminded of their right to withdraw and throughout the study even if money is involved they should be ensured they have the right to receive it even if they don’t proceed
confidentuality
Use Use pseudonyms/ A store record safely, so they’re not accessible to others although can breach if raises concern of safety or others
ethical principles
Competence- Psychologists must work within their abilities only take on work their qualified and trained to do, keep their skills and knowledge up to date and seek supervision if necessary also ensure the safety and reliability of their practise
Respect includes obtaining informed consent ensuring confidentiality and respecting cultural and individual differences participants should be treated fairly and sensitively should a value the rights of all individuals
responsibility - Must be brief participants monitor for distress and allow participants to withdraw at any time, ensuring their research avoids causing harm
Integrity Should be honest truthful and transparent in their work, they should avoid deception unless absolutely necessary and justified, they must report findings accurately
