Human Brain Anatomy Flashcards
Primary motor cortex
allows us to consciously control skilled or precise voluntary movements of our skeletal muscles.
Primary Visual cortex
receives visual info that originate from the retina of the eye.
Primary gustatory cortex
involved in perceiving taste stimuli.
Primary auditory cortex
responsible for processing sound such as loudness, pitch and location.
Somatosensory association cortex
integrate sensory inputs such as temperature, pressure and etc. Understanding of an object being felt.
Prefrontal cortex
working memory of spatial tasks, complex learning abilities and multitask problems.
Primary somatosensory cortex
receives information from sensory receptors (skin) and proprioceptors (joints, skeletal muscle and tendon).
Premotor cortex
helps plan movements; selects and sequences basic motor movement to a more complex task such as playing a musical instrument.
Wernick’s area
understanding written and spoken language.
Broca’s Area
only present in one hemisphere that direct muscle involved in speech production.
primary olfactory cortex
consciousness awareness of different odors.
