Bone Tissue - 09/29/2015 Flashcards
Osteon (Harvesian system)
Onion like consists of lamellae, osteocytes in lacuna and central canal.
Central Canal
Consists of VAN (Veins, arteries, nerves), Areolar Connective Tissue, osteoclasts and osteoblasts.
Lamellae
Has the collagen fibers and osteocytes.
Lacuna
Wraps an oestocyte.
Osteocyte.
Mature cells and communicating signals.
Canaliculus
Gap Junctions. Connections of osteocytes.
Perforating Canals (Volkmann’s)
Connects central canals. Consists of VAN (Veins, arteries, nerves), Areolar Connective Tissue, osteoclasts and osteoblasts.
Circumferential lamellae
lines the bone (around the osteons).
Periosteum.
Piece of tissue wrapped around the bone (dense irregular connective tissue)
Sharpey’s fibers
Stabs the circumferential lamellae (connected with periosteum). Calcified collagen fiber = it hardens.
Endosteum
- Lines the spongy bone and medullary cavity
- Delicate membrane (Areolar connective tissue) on internal surfaces of bone.
- Also contains osteoblasts and osteoclasts
