Mouth, gullet, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus
What is the function of the digestive system?
Break down food into simpler substances
Absorb digested food to release energy
What organs are in the respiratory system?
Nose, windpipe, lungs
What’s the function of the respiratory system?
Take in oxygen, remove carbon dioxide
What are the organs of the circulatory system?
Blood, blood vessels, heart
What’s the function of the circulatory system?
Transport digested food and oxygen to all parts of the body
Waste removal
What is the function of the skeletal system?
Gives the body its shape
Supports the body
Protects delicate organs
What is the function of the muscular system?
Movement
What does the mouth do?
Chews food into smaller pieces
Saliva contains digestive juices
What does the gullet do?
Muscular tube that pushes food from mouth to stomach
What does the stomach do?
Produces digestive juices
Churns food with digestive juices
What does the small intestine do?
Major part of digestion, digestion ends here
Absorption of digested food by blood vessels lining the small intestine
What does the large intestine do?
Absorbs water from undigested food
