How does hypertensive crisis differ from HTN urgency?
A
HTN emergency or crisis is elevated BP with evidence of end-organ damage (brain, heart, kidney, retina). Urgency does not have end-organ damage

- Preload and afterload reducer
- assess for cyanide toxicity: AMS (restlessness, lethargy), tachycardia, seizure, a need for increase in dose, unexplained metabolic acidosis, especially in those with renal impairment or when drug is used >24 hours

How to manage PAD
A
- place bed in reverse trendelenburg
- Do not elevate extremity - will decrease perfusion
