-Taking pressure off of commuter trains

-North can be well connected to south, attracting investment + business to the north

-Large brownfield site near Meadowhall where it can be built

-Reduces north-south divide as higher paid London jobs more accessible to north

-Existing infrastructure e.g. tram to support rail network

-Serve whole of south Yorkshire not just Sheffield e.g. Chesterfield, Rotherham, Doncaster

Negatives?

Answer 3

-Journey time not decreased that significantly as travelling from city centre to station adds another 30 min onto journey

-Over budget due to not being broken down into smaller projects + lack of investment

-Displace jobs, however they’re accounted for
