Define selection
The process of deciding which applicant for a job a business should accept
Define CV
A document that applicants design providing important and relevant details to the vacancy such as educational history and previous employment history
Define application forms
Questions tailored by the business to be able to judge effectively if the candidate meets the criteria
Define letter of application/cover letter
Document sent with a CV air application form to provide additional information
Define scenario testing
Candidates are put in a situation to see how they respond
Define psychometric tests
Often used as part of recruitment, assess capabilities, aptitude and whether their personality fits in with the vision of the organisation
Define work trial/job trial/trial day
When a candidate comes into the office to meet their prospective team and complete an assigned challenge to see how they handle responsibilities, can be either paid/unpaid
Define a work reference
A statement from a previous/current employer or other responsible person about the suitability of the applicant for the job
