How I did and what I learnt from the test, the preparation I had Flashcards
My scores, the year of sitting and what I want to do:
I want to do dentistry at any uni that will have me. I sat the UKCAT in September 2016 Verbal reasoning: 610 Quantitative reasoning: 680 Abstract reasoning: 680 situational judgement: Band 2
My learning plan:
I didn’t really have one. I did an online mock every morning then practice questions online for that section. For the 9 days leading up to the test. I really should have done 14 days but I am fine so I no longer care. The day before the test, I did 2 mocks and got an average score of 550, which stressed me out unnecessarily. I learnt on that test that you need to focus on the test you are doing there and not the one that came before it. I used Kaplan, all my friends doing the test used medify and got 720 on some of the sections so it doesn’t matter. I was really worried about UKCAT so I also got 2 days tuition of Kaplan, which just made me feel more confident. You don’t need it. And I do think the cost of these things are unfair and stop social class movement which does exist cos not everyone can afford a £300 course of Kaplan. But if you hav a job, spend you money on that. Then I gave up on revision had a bath, and went to sleep. I did my test midday.
If you have a toilet brake in the exam..
A message pops up on the screen saying do you want to move on to the next section when it times out , so after you read the instructions for a section and after the questions of that section . I think if you don’t press anything you possible pause the exam, this is very risky as I don’t know for sure. But if you need to go it could save you a lot of marks.
In the test what else did I learn
simple stuff like , there is enough room somehow at the desk for you note pads, and key board. Spend the reading instruction time mentally preparing yourself for the next section.Or righting down all the formulas you need for quantitative.
