The Weimar Republic was crippled by economic problems. The chancellor Heinrich Bruning was struggling to make the Weimar republic work.

Hindenburg’s re election doesn’t bring any stability. Heinrich Burning took two steps which lost his support:
- he banned the SS and SA
- he announced to buy land to home the homeless

As soon as Bruning resigned president made von papen chancellor. Von schleicher assumed he could control the Nazis. Due to this the Nazi were made part of the government.

Von Schliecher left von papen and told Hindenburg that if von papen stayed war would break out.

Von Schleicher chancellorship had no political support.. With Hitler against he wasn’t able to govern. Von papen gave Hindenburg a solution- makle hitler chancellor and papen vice chancellor. This way both could control hitler. President finally agreed.
