Q

Why was prohibition repealed?

A

Prohibition was reaplealed for several reasons;

  1. It was causing more organised crime, an example of this is the highly profitable gangs that were smuggling and selling alcohol.
  2. It didn’t work, underground clubs and bars opened called speakeasies.
  3. Their was corruption in the police force which, which meant they would turn a blind eye if they saw bootlegging.
  4. The money made by the gangs wasn’t tax by making prohibition legal the government would receive the tax it was due
