FACTOR 1: EFFECTIVE
COMINFORM
- co-ordinated all political, collectivism and industrial movements
- trade only within eastern europe
EFFECTIVE: citizens no longer had a poltical voice and the west had very little infulence and so communism could grow larger
FACTOR 2: EFFECTIVE
COMECON
- linked together economic and commericals ties within eastern europe
- made countries depend on the east
- combatted marshall aid
EFFECTIVE: stopped west from having any influence in the east and made people depend on soveit union
FACTOR 3: EFFECTIVE
THE WARSAW PACT
- controlled all defense matter
- stopped all communications with NATO
EFFECTIVE: prevented any serious uprising or attack as they had considerably more power. Stopped any capitalists ideologies from spreading and made communsim grow stronger.
FACTOR 4: EFFECTIVE
HUNGARY UPRISING 1956
- launched attack as they believed that Hungary could undermine communism
- 3000 were killed
EFFECTIVE: even though Stalin was dead it show how strong Moscow was.
HOWEVER: The poland uprsing showed that there was a lapse in control and Moscow was prepare to comprimise with countries
FACTOR 5: INEFFECTIVE
DE-STALINISATION
- Khrushchev attacked Stalins stigma
- he stopped the paranoia over him
- collectivism wasnt as strong
- met with American and Uk leaders
INEFFECTIVE: countries were able to gain more control over affairs. relations with the west improved and so there was more influence which meant communsim wasnt as strong.
FACTOR 6: INEFFECTIVE
POLAND UPRISING 1956
- Granted more refroms unlike Hungary
- had a trusted leader which didnt undermine or threaten communism
- was used to avoid full scale attack to combat communism
- didnt push the boat out too far
HOWEVER: THE HUNGARY UPRISING SHOWED THAT UPRSINGS COULD BE STOPPED.
FACTOR 7: INEFFECTIVE
DIFFERENT ROADS TO SOCIALISM
- COMINFORM was shut down and this meant people views were less restrictive
- Khrushchev believed that countries should develop own paths of socialism
CONCLUSION: communsim was not so strictly enforced on poeples rights however the COMECON and thw WARSAW pact still existed
