How does heat affect density? Flashcards
1
Q
How does heat affect density?
A
The density of a substance decreases the hotter it gets and increases when its cooled. When a substance is heated, its particles vibrate faster and move further apart
Note: Higher temperature=Higher volume
2
Q
what does warm air rising off the land gives us?
A
warm air rising off the land gives us convection currents, sometimes called thermals.
3
Q
what do convection currents cause?
A
convection currents cause sea breezes which is a big factor in our planet’s weather.
4
Q
What happens when the volume increases?
A
When the volume increases the Density decreases
