• would report on suspected hostile activity against the Japanese
• Other groups were enlisted to assist the Japanese. Some chinese become informants for the kempeitai during Operation Sook Ching to root out those to seem anti-Japanese

• Others responded to ill-treatment of local taking up arming and Joining resistance forces
  -Malayan People’s anti-Japanese Army(MPAJA)
