Hormones, Functions, and Secretions of the Endocrine System Flashcards
A normal metabolic process that helps the body utilize stored fat when other sources of energy are lacking.
Ketosis
Is a protein hormone secreted by fat cells. Involved in the regulation of appetite.
Leptin
Are produced and released in the brain, rather than by the endocrine glands, and delivered to organs and tissues through the bloodstream.
Neurohormones
Is both a hormone and a neurohormone. Plays a role in the “fight or flight” response.
Release as a hormone by the adrenal medulla and as a neurohormone by the sympathetic nervous system.
Norepinephrine
