What is Hooke’s law?

A

Hooke’s Law states that a force applied to a spring will cause it to extend by an amount proportional to the force.

Hooke’s law (how to)

A
  1. Set up the apparatus
  2. 1N is added to the spring measure
  3. Measure the new length of the spring (add to table)
  4. Add 1 more N
  5. Take your new length and add it to the table
  6. Repeat this process
  7. Repeat the whole thing 3 times and take an average
  8. Then use your formula
    (if you add to much weight you’ll reach the limit of proportionality and the spring won’t be the same again)
