Hooke's law Flashcards
1
Q
What is Hooke’s law?
A
Hooke’s Law states that a force applied to a spring will cause it to extend by an amount proportional to the force.
2
Q
Hooke’s law (how to)
A
- Set up the apparatus
- 1N is added to the spring measure
- Measure the new length of the spring (add to table)
- Add 1 more N
- Take your new length and add it to the table
- Repeat this process
- Repeat the whole thing 3 times and take an average
- Then use your formula
(if you add to much weight you’ll reach the limit of proportionality and the spring won’t be the same again)
