Homeostasis Flashcards
Steps of negative feedback
I. Stimulus
2. Receptor
3, input: sent along afferent pathway to control Center
4, output: info sent along efferent to motoreffector
5. Response, returns variable to homeostatic level
Explain positive platelet plug
1, break/tear in blood vessel wall
2 platelets adhere to site and release chemicals
s. Chemicals attract more platelets + make item sticky.
4. Platelet plug formed
Name the 3 steps and where they occur of cold feedback loop
- Stimulus (skin/brain cells sensitive to temp)
2.control Center ( thermoregulator in brain) - Effected (skeletal muscles aka. Shivering)
Hot feedback loop
- Temp. Sensitive cells in brain and skin
- Thermoregulator
- Sweat glands (effector)
Oxytocin stimulator, inhibitor and target organ and effects
Secreted by proterior pituitary, stimulated during birth and breast feeding, inhibited by stress and affects uterus (contractions) and breasts (milk)
ADH
Stimulated by dehydration/increase blood solute and inhibited by proper hydration or alcohol, target organ is the kidney that so it absorbs water from forming urine the blood
GH
Growth hormone secreted by anterior pituitary
Affects muscles, bones, liver
Affects metabolism by increasing blood glucose and fat breakdown
Anabolic hormone which affects growth promotion indirectly
