19
Q

OPERATION basics

A

AO will put spreaders down where he wants equipment set up.
About 16’ from working area (32’ hoses).
Watch for high sign before dumping compartment. Start up and hook up tools we need. Stay on power units and wait for commands.
Cribbing and chock blocks NOT near posts we’ll be cutting.
Lift and sit down on cribbing.

20
Q

Everyone’s jobs

A

Top/Inside: Empty compartment, monitor equipment
Tiller: Cribbing
Noz/Hyd: Pt care
CI: Triage MCI and/or oversee pt care
Engineer: 1.5” loaded line and dry chem (and monitor)
Rescue: MCI: open comms with hospitals to find open beds
CII: Incident Commander

21
Q

SAFETY points

A
Full PPEs
No axe
Chock/crib before working
Consider battery d/c if fuel leaking or airbags not deployed
Apply Secunet if airbags not deployed
Dry chem and 1.5” hand line (engineer)
Stay out from between tool and vehicle
22
Q

VEHICLE notes

A

Nader bolt: 5000lbs of force to cut, since 1981
Shoulder harness brackets: 3-4” square, located at roofline, avoid cutting here
Windshield is safety (laminated) glass; all others are tempered glass
Capacitors: some newer vehicles have back up power for up to 30mins.
Beware of gas struts flying off in fire conditions.
Batteries can be located anywhere.

23
Q

MAINTENANCE daily

A

Check fuel, oil levels, starting positions, visueal check

24
Q

MAINTENANCE weekly

A

Start and warm up (15 mins), attach tools and operate, check functions, check starter cords

25
Q

MAINTENANCE monthly

A

Spark plug gap, air filter, engine case inspect, fuel assembly inspect, change fuel if not used in 30 days

26
Q

MAINTENANCE semiannual

A

Change oil

27
Q

MAINTENANCE afteruse

A

Refuel, inspect, clean, starting positions
