Sexual identity
The sense of who one is as a sexual person. Including a sense of maleness and femaleness and to whom one is attracted, (emotionally, erotically, socially)
sexual identity relates to:
biological sex or gender, gender identity (sense of ourselves as men/female, gender roles(what society thinks we should act), and sexual orientation.
Intimacy:
The experience of ‘closeness’ to another human being and of feeling some type of connection in return(doesn’t have to be sexual) can be physical, social, emotional, intellectual, etc.
Intimacy is associated with:
caring, sharing, liking/or loving (two different things), taking risks( open up to be closer, being vulnerable(could be hurt), self-disclosure( personal thoughts), trust
Sensuality ( body pleasure)
Physiological and psychological pleasure from one’s own body and body of another person or other people
sensuality includes:
touch, smell, taste, pressure, pain, hearing stimuli, visual stimuli
Excitement phase
(short time->hours) vasoconstriction- vessels become narrower.
vasocongestion- vessels become build up
priapism- erection that last longer than it should( more than 4 hours call doctor)
Plateau phase
maintains, stays the same
orgasmic phase
muscle contraction uncontrollably , intense pleasure * most of time orgasm in male is ejaculation (semen)
resolution phase:
back to the excitement phase
barclint gland
fluid comes out when women orgasm (not majority of women)
Refractory period
(after orgasm) men. (women don’t need it.) after takes men time to reach another erection. younger brief, older takes longer, testosterone levels, hormones
body image
“dad bod” eroticism(stimulating in a sexual way) pleasure, fantasy (what comes to mind)
Sexualization
the use of sexuality to influence, manipulate, or control someone else
sexualization ranges from:
flirting, advertising, seduction, withholding sex, sexual harassment, incest, rape
