A

he blamed his great great grandfather Elya Yelnats because Elya broke his promise with a one legged gypsy, Madame Zeroni, and he and his family were then cursed. So then whenever something bad happened to Stanley he would blame his “no-good-dirty-rotten pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather”

Although he lacks self-confidence he doesn’t get depressed easily. He was convicted of a crime that he didn’t commit and was sent to camp green lake. He is given the name Caveman at the camp and befriends Zero. After the camp he is emotionally and physically stronger and he broke his family curse when he carried Zero up the mountain and made him drink the water.

2 - Zero is the fastest digger in camp green lake.His mother lost him when he was small and them he had to live on the streets on his own. He is small African-American boy whose great-great grandmother is Madame Zeroni. He stole the shoes that Stanley was accused of stealing. His real name is Hector Zeroni but everyone called him Zero because they thought there was nothing going on in his head because he hardly ever spoke. He and Stanley became friends and Stanley started teaching how to read and write and in return Zero would dig some of Stanley’s hole.

3 - Madame Zeroni was a one-footed gypsy who advised Elya on love. She was Egyptian and had dark skin and a very wide mouth.

4 - A African-American boy who is the leader of group D. He wears glasses and he was the first black camper Stanley meets.

“The bark on the tree was as soft as the skies.”
While the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely,
Crying to the moo-oo-oon,
“If only, if only.”

“If only, if only, the moon speaks no reply;
Reflecting the sun and all that’s gone by.
Be strong my weary wolf, turn around boldly.
Fly high, my baby bird,
My angel, my only”
